Dear Members of Redeemer,
As summer ends we approach the beginning of a new season. For us at Redeemer we will have not
only a new weather season but also a new season in our Church.
Rev. Carol Luther has been with us for a little over three years. As she has written most eloquently in
website at
work in a position at St. Pauls Episcopal School in Oakland. She will serve there as Chaplain and also
direct their Service Learning program.
This move will allow Carol to share her many gifts with children and youth from many faiths as she
moves more fully into interfaith conversation and learning. In her letter Carol notes that she feels
blessed to be offered this chance.
This congregation will move forward to the next chapter of our life and worship together. Your
Bishops Committee has been in close communication with Rev. Michael Barlowe, from our Diocesan
office, for several weeks. He has been very helpful to us and has identified a good priest who will
serve Redeemer for the next six months.
During this time, we will discern our mission and how we should work to achieve that mission. We
believe that together, as we search our hearts and minds, we will clearly see the path we are called to
follow.
This will be a shared exploration so, stay tuned! The members of the Bishops Committee look
forward to input from the whole congregation as together we write the next chapter of our life at
Redeemer.
Sunday, September 2nd
will be the time to acknowledge Carols ministry at Redeemer and to share a
meal together after the 10 am service. Please try to attend!
In faith and love,
Your Bishops Committee,
Elliott Blank, John Chung, Sue Clark, Eileen Erler, Sallie Garbarino, Betsy Nakamura, Kim Johnson,
Jim Providenza and Mary Sparks
