Homeless Chaplaincy: August 31st
We will be providing Salads and Dessert for the
dinner at 1st. Presbyterian Church.
Needed: Food donations, people to set up tables,
people to serve and clean up.
Food to be delivered at 4.45, dinner is served at
5.30, clean up by 6.30.
Adults and youth welcomed to help at this event.
Ritter House Backpacks
We provided 40+ backpacks for this program. Thanks
to our youth members who stuffed them and thanks to
all church members who donated to this annual
program.
Milkcare
Over 300 gently used (and new) stuffed animals and
about 120 hot wheel cars were sent to the non-profit
group Milkcare, for distribution to orphanages in
Vietnam. The orphanages are run by both Christian
and Buddhist Sisters and cumulatively take care of
over a thousand children, who would otherwise be
homeless. Thank you to everyone who donated their
treasures. I know they will now be treasured by
very happy and appreciative little ones. If youd like

Augusts Pancake Breakfast and Yard-Sale was
successful due to the hard work of many volunteers
and committee members. Thanks to all!

CYCLE OF PRAYER
September 5 We pray for all workers that they may
earn sustainable wages in satisfying employment.
September 12 We pray in thanksgiving for the
tireless work of those on the Kids Karnival steering
committee.
September 19 We pray with joy for the success of
Kids Karnival.
September 26 _ We give thanks for those leading
Congregational Care and Concern and Hospitality,
whose efforts keep our congregation connected.
EDUCATIONAL OFFERINGS:
FALL 2004
Waking Up in a New Religious America
Working together over the past year, a dedicated
group of people in Marin representing many
different faiths has created a course designed to
build bridges of interfaith understanding. They
have created a program whose title is "Waking up in
a New Religious America". It is being offered under
the sponsorship of Dominican University, the
International Association of Sufism and the Marin
Interfaith Council.
Paul Chaffee of the Interfaith Center at the
Presidio will be the lead instructor. Other
participants will include Dr. Nahid Angha (Sufi
Muslim), Rabbi Michael Barenbaum (Reform
Jewish), Shema Deamer (Baha'i) Seide Lee de
Barros (Zen Buddhist), Andrew Galvan (Ohione
Indian, Roman Catholic), Imam Souleiman Ghali
(Sunni Muslim), Rev. Canon Charles Gibbs (Episcopal
Christian), Rev. Carol Hovis (Presbyterian Christian),
Nipun Mehta (Hindu), Dr. Philip Novak (Buddhist),
Sister Elizabeth Padilla (Brahma Kumaris), Rita
Semel (Reform Jewish), Waheed Siddiqee (Sunni
Muslim) and Swami Vedananda (Vedanta).
The course will begin on Wednesday,
September 22 at Dominican University and
continue in bi-monthly meetings until December
1. A final workshop is scheduled for Saturday,
January 30 at the Jewish Community Center.
The course will cost $60 and the follow-up
conference (including dinner) $25. Brochures with
