River Rafting Down the Waters
of Life
Well, maybe the American River isn’t quite that
grand, but we’re going on a rafting trip on
September 4th. Want to come? Call Rev. Carol or
Mary Sparks.
Alaska in ’05?
Next summer, Redeemer teens and a few select adult
leaders have the chance to learn a way of life from a
Native American community, come face to face with
wildlife in Denali National Park, and meet Marin’s
champion dog musher Jeff King. We will earn all
money for the trip through community projects and
fundraisers and I promise you will come back with a
whole new outlook.
We’ve just had our first meeting – there’s still
time to be a part of this. Call Rev. Carol
Kids’ Karnival

time.  Sign up to help with the games – sign up sheets
are at church.
Save the date:  September 18th!

You stuffed 40+ back packs for youngsters who
really needed your help!
Thanks!
Homeless Chaplaincy Dinner
August 31st is the next time our church helps with
this. If you would like to help set up, serve or clean
up Rev. Carol will be happy to complete the
paperwork for recording service hours for you.
KIDS’ KARNIVAL
The sixth annual Kids’ Karnival
Saturday, Sept 18th,11 am to 7 pm.
There will be games, prizes, food, fun and of
course the Giant Slip & Slide!  It’s going to be a
great day of fun, fundraising and just hanging out
with friends and neighbors.  Note that we are staying
open an hour later, so plan to come back for dinner,
too!  Why cook when you can have tasty BBQ ribs or
chicken, juicy grilled burgers or hot dogs and enjoy a
nice glass of wine or icy cold beer from the tap with
it?  And don’t forget the cotton candy and snow
cones for dessert!
The Steering Committee has lots of great ideas and
plenty of enthusiasm, but we still need your help.  We
are again asking for sponsorships of the games,
prizes, food, and rental items.  We also need
plenty of volunteers. This year, in an attempt to
simplify the staffing process, we have decided to ask
individuals to Adopt a Booth to staff for the day.  An
adult would be responsible for setting up the booth
at 10:30am, arranging for 4 to 5 people to staff it
for the day and overseeing its smooth running. This
way you can work with your family and friends and
have a great time while helping the Church to raise
the funds needed for our general operating
expenses.  We are also looking for individuals to
work shifts, as well.  As always, kids are welcome to
help.  Middle school and High School students can
work alone.  Those younger must work with a parent.
Those students needing community service hours can
fulfill them at the Karnival while having a great time
with their friends.  (Remember, we give double hours
for clean-up!)   To volunteer, sign up at Church or
call Eileen Erler at 456-7255.
Another change will be the clean-up process.  Rev.
Carol has agreed to one service, the day after the KK
(9/19) at 10am – outside! This way we won’t need to
have the Church perfect for services the next day.
Instead, we’ll have a lovely service, have a brunch of
the left over food and join together to clean up and
put everything away for next year.  I hope you’ll join
us then, as well.  In addition to the food, we’ll have
some rewards for the kids, too!  So mark your
calendars and tell your neighbors and friends to
come and be a part of the Sixth Annual Kids’
Karnival!
