OFFICIAL ACTS Death: Loretha Sharkey died on August 7th after a stroke. Funeral service was held at The Baptist Church in Healdsburg on August 13th. Loretha had been a long time member of Redeemer and will be remembered for her wonderful stories of her family and for her gift of cooking. Baptisms: Caitlin Grace and Lauren McKenna O’Leary were baptized on August 15th with many of their friends in attendance.  Daniel and Kathryn O’Leary are their proud parents. LETTER FROM DEACON JULIE THE WORK OF THE THREE CHURCHES A little over a year ago the clergy of the three churches in San Rafael began working collaboratively.  Each of our congregations is small, and the clergy felt that so much more could be available for all Episcopalians if we joined forces. To that end, some goals were set up:  work together for youth activities, have regular pulpit exchanges so all can know each other, pray for the three churches, share news through each others’ bulletins, share in outreach efforts.  There has been a measure of success in each area, so far. Much of the combined work was done by clergy and senior wardens from each of the churches. This summer both Redeemer and St. Paul’s called new priests.  It was determined that this was not a good time to lay plans until each of the new priests had a chance to become better acquainted with their own churches.  Thus the summer meetings were cancelled. The next meeting will be September 26 when all the clergy will be able to sit down together and map out where we go from here.  That decision will include time for each of the two vestries and our own bishop’s committee to meet together and help decide the future of our combined efforts. From my perspective, this is an exciting effort.  The great joy that I have seen in being part of this combined work is a blessing.  It is unusual and wonderful to see our congregations working to better all of our members.  You will all be kept apprised of our progress.
