LATE BREAKING NEWS ON KIDSS KARNIVAL
Our preliminary numbers show that total sales at the door exceeded last years sales
by almost $2,500! That is a 54% increase over last year!!
We expect the final numbers to come in at about $5,800. Thats almost $6000!
Even better, is the fact that in all, between sponsorships and cash at the door, we grossed $10,089!
Kids Karnival was a huge success!
My Dear Redeemer Family,
What a great day to be a part of our wonderful Redeemer Family! Its 10:30pm, and although everyone
in our house is exhausted from our long day at Kids Karnival today, we all agree that it was our best Kids Kar-
nival yet! We estimate that about 500 people came by today to play games, climb on the Rock Wall, jump in
the Jurassic Adventure, slide down the 25 foot Shark Slide or just enjoy a burger or glass of wine with
friends. Record numbers of new families came to play, hang out and peek inside our busy little Church.
Thank you to everyone who worked today, especially to all those who Adopted-A-Booth, The Chiarrolla,
Fox, Godbold, Johnson, Mason/Luis, Moody/Botel, and Barbash/Burton Families, Paula Zand and Joan West-
moreland. Special thanks to Brad & Stephanie Kennison for sorting and organizing all the prizes and to our
Door Hanging Team led by Gamin Thomason, Eileen and Rudy Erler. Many thanks to all those who baked des-
serts and donated wine. Those two booths alone, completely supplied by your donations, brought in over $500!
Id also like to thank our ace BBQ staff, comprised of Rudy Erler, Glen Godbold, John Chung, John Nakamura
and Jim Fox. These guys are not only master chefs, but were the core of our set-up and break-down crews,
under the watchful eye of our set-up and break-down Guru, Rick Skubecz. As a matter of fact, these guys
really spun gold out of straw. They discovered that our newest canopy for the Prize Booth was missing a cru-
cial part Friday evening, as they struggled to get it up before dark. Rudy Erler assured the guys that he
probably had something in his garage that would work. Lo and behold, about 20 minutes later, Rudy returned
with a makeshift part that salvaged the entire canopy. If NASA had only thought to take Rudy along on the
Space Shuttle, I know he would have had something with him to fix those burned-out tiles!
Finally, Id like to thank my fabulous Steering Committee! Cindy Poulos and Betsy Nakamura did an ex-
traordinary job of taking care of all of our dining needs, Rev. Carol wonderfully handled moral and spiritual
support, in addition to last minute graphics, Eileen Erler masterfully watched over the staffing of each and
every booth and activity and Linda McGill Fox did just about everything else! Linda did so many jobs, ran so
many reports, analyzed so much data, and still rushed home to count the money so she could give us a prelimi-
nary report! She is truly amazing! All of these women are! It is always a pleasure and an honor to work with
them.
As usual, Im tired, but already looking forward to next years Kids Karnival and thinking of ways to
make it even bigger and better!
Much love and many thanks,
Billie Barbash
