FROM THE SENIOR WARDEN
My Dear Redeemer Family,
As the leaves turn red and brown and the nights get chilly, my thoughts in Fall turn toward winding up the
year. I so look forward to the Holidays! I love every one of the holidays, starting with Halloween and going right
through New Years, because I love the warmth that I get from being with my family and friends. Its really the
same warmth I get each Sunday at Redeemer. This is such a warm welcoming and enveloping community, that has
added so much to my every day life.
In the coming weeks, I am going to ask you to look at your relationship to Redeemer and also your journey.
How did you come here? What made you come back a second time? And what made you stay? I want to hear your
stories, because most of you have heard all of mine, and quite frankly, Im running out of material as I embark on the
Stewardship Campaign for 2006. Actually, thats not quite true. When you love a place and a community, as much as
I truly love Redeemer, you can always find things to say, but nonetheless, please email me at bacsfam@comcast.net,
because Id like to hear about your journey.
Speaking of journeys, Id like to tell you about a family that has relocated to San Rafael from New Orleans
after losing everything as a result of Hurricane Katrina. This is not one of the success stories that youve read
about in the IJ, but Im hoping that we can help to make it one. Lisa Mack, her son Daniel and daughter Corlett came
to Marin County after being relocated several times, including a stay next to the Houston Astro Dome, by catching a
ride here with a complete stranger. They traveled here knowing no one and left their home, with nothing more than
the clothes on their backs and Lisas purse. They have relocated to San Rafael and her children enrolled a few weeks
ago at San Rafael High School, where Daniel immediately joined the football team and Corlett joined the Volleyball
team. Both are exceptional athletes and have been welcomed by their team and classmates. Lisa believes that she
has found housing, but it is in Marin City and she wants to make sure that Daniel and Corlett will not have to change
schools. She is still looking for a clerical, industrial or a job driving heavy transport and also is in need of a car. If
you or anyone you know could help her to find a job or car please contact me and Ill put you in touch with her. Ive
also invited them to Church and know that you will welcome them warmly.
Love,
Billie
