               Redeemer Review
The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer
                            May, 2007
From the Vicar
Thank you to everyone for making Easter, 2007 a true celebration of New Life! I can’t believe that
May has come again, and with it budding thoughts of summer. Redeemer will greet the season with a
fresh spirit. Beginning Friday, May 4 at 1 p.m. and continuing for six weeks, Catherine Keyes-
Guichard will offer us a chance to practice yoga in the sanctuary. Yoga is not just a healthy way of
being in the body, it is a practice of connecting ourselves fully into our being. Catherine grew up in
Tiburon and although she now lives in France, she has spent the past year in Marin with daughter
Gabrielle, exploring their American heritage. Catherine has studied yoga for fourteen years. Her
classes will combine body work, meditation and reflection. More details can be found elsewhere in the
Review. Please join us!
After our March celebration of Mother Earth, in May we take time again to celebrate Mother, this time
our own, on Mothers’ Day. We will have our usual Mom Bash on Sunday, May 13th, with flowers at
both services. In the same spirit, you might also want to join the Moms in Motion group which will
meet at Billie Barbash’s home, May 31, at 12:30 p.m. Bring a bag lunch and let Billie know you’re
coming. Moms in Motion is strictly for fun, restoration and rejuvenation!
Looking ahead to June, once school is done, we will relax as well. Starting on Father’s Day, June 17th,
we will shift to a new Summer Worship Schedule. There will be one main service at 10 a.m. with
music, interactive prayers and a hands-on look at the power of story in the Bible. This service is
designed to be for all ages and will invite your participation at many different levels. After worship, we
will have an extended coffee hour and a chance to be together in a relaxed, welcoming setting. And
who knows? We might even do some fun things together during the summer like a hike in China
Camp, a neighborhood beach clean-up, or a kayak outing.
But that’s not all. For those of us who are of a more meditative bent, I will offer a greet-the-day
Contemplative Eucharist, Sundays at 8 a.m., also beginning on June 17th. This service will feature
silent and healing prayer, lectio divina, silence, and Holy Communion.
Meanwhile, enjoy the wonderful weather that the end of spring bestows, don’t let the whirlwind of the
end of school overwhelm, and know above all things that God loves you more than any of us can begin
to imagine.
Your friend in Christ,
