OUR WONDERFUL ACOLYTES
I am writing this shortly after completing the
schedule for May and June.  This intricate
scheduling takes into account all the many people who
serve on Sunday mornings as the Redeemer community
gathers for worship.  Each person who takes part
helps the worship of all be meaningful and, yes,
worshipful.  Of particular importance to the
worshipful atmosphere are our NINETEEN
ACOLYTES!  Yes, the acolyte team is now nineteen,
the largest group since I began at Redeemer (and 21
during the summer when the Kirk granddaughters are
present).
One very exciting piece is that we now have a group
of five acolytes who serve at the 10:30 service
That service has not always appealed to our very
young acolytes.  (Most churches train acolytes no
younger than ten or eleven).  Helene Erler and
Alexander Kennison have joined Cody Blank, Mike
Providenza, and Meredith Sherill who have served,
rotating every three weeks  Added to the roster at
the 9:15 service are Eric Bryan, Carly Clark, and
Danielle Scullon-Baer.  Claire Poulos has taken the
acolyte training and is willing to serve on a stand-by
basis.  Her welcoming smile is a joy to see.
Please remember to thank the acolytes for all
they do.  The services would not be so terrific
without their faithful service.

FROM THE SENIOR WARDEN
It is a pleasure to report that "life is good" at
Redeemer!  We have come through  the dark
and reflective days of Lent and have emerged into
the bright light of Easter refreshed and ready for
the whirlwind of Spring activities.  Many of you know
that one of my favorite things is walking into Church
on Easter morning and seeing the explosion of
color after the stark days of Lent.  Flowers are
everywhere (thanks to one of the many talents of
Cathy Kirk), the brass is polished to a high sheen and
the Church is spotless, thanks to our wonderful hard
working Altar Guild!  It makes my heart sing even
before Jay dazzles us with his keyboard!   As we
gathered outside to "dig up" the Alleluia, I was so
proud of our beautiful tidy grounds, thanks to our
fabulous Jr. Warden Rick Skubecz and the hard
work of all of you who showed up in between storms,
to weed, plant, trim and clean up the tangle of our
yard.  Many thanks to those who organized food for
both the clean-up and Easter coffee hour, to the
Burton Boys (all four of them ) for setting up the
Easter Egg Hunt and to all (especially the Godbolds)
who supplied eggs filled with goodies for the little
ones to gobble up! It was a glorious day!  Our
numbers were higher than we've ever had in the 10
Easters that I've been at Redeemer!  There were 163
people who attended the 9:15 service and 42 at the
10:30 service.  That made a grand total of 205 people
who came to celebrate Easter with us this year, as
opposed to 170 last year!  Wow!  What a difference a
year makes!

I'd like to thank our wonderful clergy, Rev. Carol and
Deacon Julie for leading us through a busy and
intense Lenten Season of reflection and spiritual
growth.  They truly offered something for everyone,
from 6:30am Commuter Communion, to the 3:30
Afterschool Program and finally the 7:00pm  Lenten
lecture series, each and every week during
Lent.  What a gift they gave to us of their time,
talent and wonderful treasures!

My last thank you is a difficult one.  By now you have
all received Deacon Julie Jensen's letter and know
that she will be leaving us.  On behalf of the Bishop's
Committee and all of us at Redeemer, I'd like to
thank her, from the bottom of my heart for all that
she has done and brought to us here.  Our acolyte
program is stronger than it has been for a long time,
our Outreach programs have thrived under her
direction and our awareness of the issues
surrounding us have been heightened, due to her
diligence.  Thank you, Julie for your strength and
guidance, during your time at Redeemer.  We will miss
you.
May God bless you all with love, laughter and joy in
your lives.
