DIOCESAN YOUTH EVENTS FOR 2008
Happening! Is April 18-20 at the
Marin Headlands Center.
Happening! is an annual youth retreat weekend
sponsored by the Diocese. The weekend is planned for
and led by youth (with the assistance and on-site
supervision of adult volunteers), and includes food, fun,
music, prayer, and witness to the challenge and
excitement of following Jesus in the world today.
This year's Happening! is taking place at the Marin
Headlands Institute, which is about the coolest location
you can imagine for the retreat, and will take place the
weekend of April 18-20.
If you or your teen has never done a Happening!
weekend, this would be a GREAT year to start. To find
out more, you can visit the Diocesan Youth ministry's
web page at:
From there, you can register, sign up for youth
leadership positions, and sample the musical stylings of
Sam Hensley, who will be leading the music for the
weekend. Contact information is listed on the website if
you have other questions or concerns.
In addition, the menu on the left side of the page
includes a whole list of other events happening in 2008,
sponsored by the Diocese, and open to all Diocesan
youth (and their friends!)
30 Hour Famine
We have received the information on this event, but
currently we do not have a Youth Leader. We have
checked with the other youth leaders in Marin County
and unfortunately none of the Marin churches is
planning to do this event. Please know that the Bishop's
Committee considers youth leadership an important part
of our mission at Redeemer. The ability to nurture our
youth is a strong consideration as we consider who our
interim priest will be.
Summer Plans!? Summer Camp anyone?
We have received the Summer Camp bulletin for St.
Dorothy's Rest. The camp/retreat center is an institution
of the Episcopal Diocese of California (as is Bishop's
Ranch, whose camp information should be received
soon.) St. Dorothy's is near Camp Meeker/Russian
River, and the Bishop's Ranch is outside Healdsburg
surrounded by lots of acreage for hiking and exploration
and a swimming pool.
Check the bulletin board at the back of the church!
