Senior Warden’s Letter
Update on the Interim Vicar Search
We have received several applications from Priests
interested in serving as Interim Vicar at Redeemer.
Interviews have already been scheduled with two of
the candidates. Please hold the Bishop's Committee
members and the candidates in your prayers as we
continue the discernment process.
Greg Poulos has graciously taken on the coor-
dination of the interview process. He will be
working with other members of the Bishop's
Committee. We are in frequent contact with Rev.
Michael Barlowe's office and some additional
candidates may be forthcoming.
If you have any questions, please contact me or any
member of the Bishop's Committee.
Upcoming Services
March 2nd
:  Rev. Donald Schell will join us as
celebrant and preacher.
March 9th:  Rev. Skip Fotch will join us as celebrant
and preacher.
March 16th, the beginning of Holy Week, and
through Easter, March 23rd, Rev. Schell will again
serve as celebrant and preacher.
A Personal Note:
As many of you know already, our daughter,
Caroline has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
She is scheduled for surgery Tuesday, Feb. 19th.  I
will be going down to the San Diego area to be with
her and our son-in-law Neil and help with their 7
month and 2 year old boys.  I will probably be
commuting up and down over the next several
months.
You can email me - sueclarkca@aol.com. My cell
phone is (415) 847-0659.
Lastly, I am enthused by the quality of support we
are receiving from the Diocese and encouraged by
it.  I know that some of you feel uncertain that
Redeemer will move forward. I invite you to toss
out those fears and come to worship with your
friends at Redeemer.
This place offers to us all a
welcoming, warm spiritual atmosphere. Come and
find the inspiration that will enable this wonderful
church family to move forward.       Peace, Sue
A Note from our Kids’ Church Coordinator
My Dear Redeemer Family,
I’m just checking in as your Kids’ Church
Coordinator and general Redeemer Cheerleader.  I can
already tell that it’s going to be a wonderful Spring at
Redeemer! We started by chasing away the winter
doldrums with a fabulous January evening viewing the
private Military and Train Collections of the Garbarino
Family and dining on scrumptious Spaghetti ala
Providenza. Then Lent began on February 6th with three
Ash Wednesday Services led by our Lay Eucharistic
Ministers Joan Westmoreland, Cathy Kirk and Paula
Zand.  That was followed on Saturday, February 9th with
an amazing Chinese New Year Celebration, complete
with Lion Dance and Chow Mein! Before you know it,
Easter and the ever popular Egg Hunt will be next, on
March 23rd! As you can see, we have a lively schedule
planned and hope that each of you will be here, too.
As I attended each of these events though, I was
again reminded why I came to Redeemer and stayed 12
years ago.  Initially, I came on that first Christmas Eve,
because I knew our then-priest, Father Jack Schanhaar,
from serving on the Preschool Board of Directors with
him. As I look back, I now realize that what kept me
here didn’t really have anything to do with Father Jack.
As much as I liked him, I know that it was instead the
people who make up our Redeemer Family that drew me
here each week.  Somehow, I had managed to stumble
into a place that I felt safe, comfortable and at home. I
knew that here, with these people I could strengthen my
boys’ sense of community and help them forge a
spiritual relationship with God.  Twelve years and
several vicars, interims and supply priests later, I’m still
here and those little boys are now 18, 16 and 13.  They,
too, are a vital part of the Redeemer Community and
carry it in their hearts wherever they go, all because of
their relationship with each of you.  I thank you for
making such a difference in our lives.
I’m looking forward to the exciting changes that
lie ahead for our Redeemer Family and hope that you
will continue to join us on our journey together.  I
encourage you to not miss the opportunity to see old
friends, or experience the warmth and love of your
Redeemer Community, while waiting for what God has
in store for us. We
continue to be – well us, as we look
for the right person to join us in celebrating our love of
God.  So, don’t miss out on the fellowship and spiritual
renewal offered here each week with your Redeemer
Family, regardless of who happens to be preaching.
See you soon!
Billie
