LETTER FROM THE SENIOR WARDEN
Dear Redeemer Family,
It is with great fondness that I send this last official message to all of you. As the 2004 year comes to a close so
does my term as the Senior Warden for the Church of Redeemer. Never in my wildest dreams would I have
imagined that I would take on this particular role when Fr. Jeremy asked me to join the Bishops Committee in late
2001. But I have learned over and over again that God works in mysterious ways.
Little did I know then that I would lose my job, paving the way for me to dedicate my time and energy to the church
for two years. Little did I know then that Fr. Jeremy would soon retire and I, as the Senior Warden, would be
responsible for leading the laity in not only selecting an interim and permanent priest but running the church during
that transition time.
God blessed me in so many ways; he gave me the gift of time to serve a fabulous church with my gifts and talents.
He gave me the gift of new and lasting friendships; the gift of knowledge to learn more about the Episcopal
Church and the commitment to rededicate myself to God and the church through the confirmation process.
My legacy to all of you in not our new wonderful Vicar, Rev. Carol; it was truly Gods hand that brought her to us.
No, my legacy is that the congregation came through the eighteen month search and transition stronger, unified and
more dedicated than ever to the growth of Redeemer. So, to the 2003-2004 Bishops Committee and Search
Committee, Co-Chairs Sallie Wood and Sue Clark I extend my profound gratitude for your service.
All the members of Redeemer should be thanked for your love, dedication and commitment. However, there are a
few special people I would like recognize for helping me on my journey these past couple of years.
To Fr. Jeremy and Billie Barbash for creating Kids Church and making it possible for me to worship with my kids.
I knew I found my spiritual home when I heard No matter who you are or where you are on your spiritual journey
you are welcomed at Redeemer.
To Sallie Wood for her guidance, wisdom and friendship in navigating the path of being Senior Warden.
To the long time members of Redeemer who put up with us young whippersnappers questioning the way things are
done and changing things around. Thank you for your patience.
To Rev. Julie Jensen for her spiritual guidance and knowledge of the California Diocese that helped us as we
transitioned through three priests in less than two years.
To the men of Redeemer who held a very successful Pancake Breakfast and yard sale fundraiser. I am humbled by
your organizational skills and dedication. You are a terrific group of guys!
To the wonderful Women of Spirituality who took me under their wings; listened to me, prayed for me and included
me in their circle of friendship. You are truly awesome women and I learn so much for you every day.
Finally, to each of the three priests I served under. Fr. Jeremy for having faith in me to lead and serve. Mother
Mary Atwood for her gentle guidance and vision. Rev. Carol for being such a good listener and huge supporter. We
are so fortunate to have your energy, love and experience at Redeemer.
Heres to a healthy, prosperous New Year.
Yours in Christ,
Kelly Mason
