FROM OUR STEWARDSHIP CHAIR,
Jay Luther:
On Being Audacious
The annual stewardship drive has begun, and no one
could call the results to date shabby. As of
November 26 - the end of the first week - we had 26
pledging families and $50,600 pledged. This is a full
43% of what were shooting for. Pretty darn good
for a small - but very special - church!
What we are seeking this year is $120,000, about
20% more than last year. Twenty percent is an
audacious goal. But theres a reason for it.
Historically, this has been one of the magic numbers
that the Diocese has used in deciding when a
mission is eligible for parish status. Should we attain
it, it is quite likely that Redeemer, now a mission,
will again become a parish. Thats a worthwhile goal
of the first magnitude. In canon law, a mission is a
unit of the Diocese, which can and should be
compromised - or shuttered - whenever necessary to
fulfill other, more important, Diocesan goals. A
parish is an independent entity, which, with Gods
guidance and grace, decides its own destiny. Whats
your preference?
Lets be audacious; lets be ourselves.
How do we reach an audacious 20% pledge
increase? Heres one thought: We have four tiers of
pledged giving:
$0 - $1,000
$1,000 - $2,000
$2,000 $6,000
$6,000 and above.
For those of you who have never pledged before,
join the first tier at a point where its comfortable. If
youre current pledgers, increase your pledge to
approach the top of your current tier or join the base
of the next pledging tier.
If we take these steps, will we reach our goal of
$120,000? I dont know. But I do know that if we
try, we will have affirmed ourselves as an audacious
community in our own eyes and in the eyes of the
Diocese. And that is who we are.

FAMILY TO FAMILY
gift giving for Ritter House is happening again this
year. Check our board for gift requests and have
your Christmas presents back to Church by
December 10th
.
SHOW THAT YOU CARE!
In following the Christmas spirit, we are once again
partnering with Milkcare, to send gently used stuffed
animals and new Matchbox cars to children living in
13 orphanages in Vietnam. If you have donations
you can bring them to Church or drop them off
on our porch at 32 Castlewood Drive. Let your
donations bring smiles to little ones living a world
away. Thank you!

TIME TO DREAM OF SUMMER
Let Rev. Carol know if you want to come to Alaska
to lock in the lowest airfare. The trip will remain
open as long as there are spaces, but earlier means
cheaper!
