CONGREGATIONAL CYCLE OF
PRAYER
December 3: On the first Sunday of Advent, we pray
that the Lord will give us the wisdom to know what
we really want.  In that spirit, we rejoice with Janet
Fullmer, who will at last achieve her dream when
she is ordained to the priesthood on Saturday.
December 10: On the second Sunday of Advent, we
pray for the desert places in our lives, ours and our
friends’ illnesses, disappointments, failures, fears
and confusions. Help us to remember that God’s
love never leaves us.
December 17: On the third Sunday of Advent, we
pray for the coming of new life, for an answer to the
question posed so long ago to John the Baptist,
“What then should we do?”
December 24: On this fourth Sunday of Advent, we
raise our prayers of hope. We give thanks, male,
female, adult and child, for the “fruit of our wombs,”
the gifts we have given to others, the hopes we have
extended to our loved ones, the kindnesses shown to
strangers, the things that are born in us every day.
We give thanks that God loved us so much that he
sent his Son Jesus.
December 31: We give God thanks for another year.
On this feast of the Holy Family, we thank God for
our families and we pray for the grace to listen to
their wisdom and love them with all our hearts.
January 7: We give thanks for this New Year and
pray that Redeemer will grow and flourish in God’s
love and service during 2007.
January 14: On this Martin Luther King, Jr.
weekend, we pray for all who have the vision and
the grace to work for justice on earth. Give us the
grace to choose life, love and dignity for every
human being.
