Senior Wardens Report:
Dear Redeemer Family,
It has been a very interesting year for me as Senior
Warden - I have learned a lot and learned I could
have learned a lot more. All it takes is time. Time is
a very precious commodity to most of us-even more
so than money for some. Because of its worth, we
need to make sure we divide it up as if we are
budgeting out our paychecks, some for our kids,
some for our partner, some for our church, and some
for our friends and some for ourselves. As we move
into a very congested Holiday season, I hope every-
one can find a little quiet time to reflect on the past
year and decide where you can find time for
Redeemer. Remember that Sunday was set aside for
a day to pause and reflect a long time ago. I also
hope everyone can find time for themselves, to do
things that really float your boat. It may be
reading, hiking, writing, running, whatever it is, take
time and just do it.
With the end of the year imminent and the end of my
Senior Warden-ship, I leave feeling very hopeful
that the work the BC has been working on mainly
growth and space difficulties, will continue with
renewed forward momentum. The town hall meeting
in November seemed to re-charge some batteries
with new energy, as many Redeemer family
members stepped up to form committees. This is a
huge blessing, for now the BC can focus on fiscal
matters and the daily running of the Church. Did I
say thank you to all that attended and added input?
Thank you! I hope everyone who wants to help on
these committees will see how a little time spent will
pay off in a big way.
The Bishops Committee is still looking for new
members. For those who do not know what the BC
is, well here is a very brief explanation. The
Bishops Committee is just a fancy name for
Redeemers board of directors. Because we still have
Mission status within the Diocese, we have a
Missioner to help us and oversee the fiscal fitness of
our church. In reality we function pretty much the
same as other churches of our size, regardless of our
Mission status. If you are the type of person who
likes dealing with dollars and cents, and would like
to help run the daily dealings of Redeemer, the BC
needs you. We have four spots to fill in January.
As this is my last letter, I would like to thank Rev.
Carol for the opportunity to work with her and listen
to her hopes for Redeemer; she will lead us well. I
would also like to thank the BC for their efforts to
figure out how best the pre-school fits into our
complicated relationship, as well as all the other
work they did. I would also like to thank all the
people who fundraised, mailed and edited news-
letters, made the church grounds beautiful, the inside
beautiful, helped Rev. Carol with liturgy and Kids
Church, took meals to families in need, helped re-
build a chapel in Alaska, put on a pageant, bar-b-
qued, grilled, took tickets, and gave money, time and
talent. (The list is endless) Thank you! Thanks to
all who took the time to give time to Redeemer.
This Holy Holiday season, I hope all will find time
to find peace and joy in their lives. Thanks be to
God.
