FROM THE VICAR
Easter Blessings! Christ is Risen Indeed! Our God is a God of Life, and death does not have the last word.
Because we are a resurrection people, one of the most ancient and powerful ministries of the Church is the ministry
of healing. Jesus did not just tell us about the fullness of life, he showed us, by laying his hands upon the sick, the
lame, the blind, the deaf and the possessed and making them whole. Many people discover God’s love and God’s
power when, in illness or distress, even at the point of death, they turn to God. Healing ministry is one of the most
profound responses to God’s call to love one another. It is life and world changing.
From the first day I came to Redeemer, I was impressed with the dedication and prayerfulness of our healing team,
our Stephen Ministers, our weekly sacrament of laying on of hands. The season of Easter calls the Church to new
life and one of the ways in which we plan to respond is by deepening our ministry of healing. To this end, Francis
Geddes of our parish has offered to lead us in a workshop on Contemplative Healing on April 23rd from 10:00 –
3:00. Francis is a Doctor of Ministry, a retired spiritual director from the San Francisco Theological Seminary in
San Anselmo, and a retreat leader in healing ministry. Bring a bag lunch and join us. There is no charge for the
program, but we are asking a free will offering in thanksgiving for Francis’ time. Registration forms are available
in Church.
Blessings,

Marin Deanery Town Hall Meetings For the Bishop Search
Two Bishop Search Town Hall meetings for lay people have been planned to meet in our Deanery.  These meetings
for the laity will be a time of self-examination of who we are as a Diocese – including exploring the mythology
versus the reality of who we are – and where God is calling us to go.  Results of the Town Hall meetings will be
used as we prepare a profile in preparation for the election of the eighth Bishop of California in 2006.
Your honest participation is essential to this process.  Please plan to come and be a part of this important
transition in the life of the Church in the Diocese of California. Attend one of these meetings.
