God’s Healing Gift:
An Introduction to the Contemplative Dimension of Healing Prayer
A Retreat Workshop Led by Dr. Francis Geddes and Ann Geddes
July 8 – 13, 2007
Wellspring Renewal Center, Philo, California
This residential retreat begins with instruction on contemplative prayer, the foundation for the healing work that
will be presented in this workshop. The retreat is limited to 15 participants and is not intended for personal
healing, but is training for those interested in the ministry of healing and wholeness. The purpose of this training
is to develop the latent, God-given healing ability that everyone has. In the training, participants learn ten
spiritual exercises that focus the attention in a very concentrated way and access inner imagery. The exercises
are drawn from Christian, Jewish, Eastern, and Native American traditions and are designed to enable one to
work with inner imagery that will serve as a metaphorical bridge between the ill person, the healer and God or
Christ. This imagery prayer for healing is based on a model developed by Lawrence LeShan, Ph.D. Suggested

Francis Geddes is a retired United Church of Christ minister and retired spiritual director at the San Francisco Theological Seminary in San
Anselmo, California. Ann Geddes has taught yoga as spiritual practice and was director of the Solar Yoga Center in Brooklyn, New York. For

LOCATION: Wellspring Renewal Center, Philo, Mendocino County. Cost includes tuition, board, and room: Improved cabin (two to
a room), $550; Rustic or tent cabin (bathroom in bath house), $440; camping, $390. Deposit of $150 required. Some partial
scholarships available.
